One of Toyota’s leading compacts, the Corolla iM, has made its drift racing debut in the US, the model coming in at 1,000hp.
The drift racer made its debut at the Papadakis Racing center in California on March 27 as the newest part of the Rockstar Energy Drink/Nexen Tire team for the Formula Drift 2017 season.
This Corolla iM has had its engine completely swapped out for a 2AR type inline-4 engine. With a Borgwarner EFR turbo charger, AEM Infinity 8 fuel injection, and a nitro system, the car boasts 1,000hp.
Also, as a drift racer, the car has been switched from an FF to FR setup. The RS-R suspension also means reinforcement, and the transmission is a 4 speed dog-leg.
The driver is Fredric Aasbo, who dominated the Formula Drift 2015 season. The car will have its first race on March 31 in California.
