Super GT Round 6: Toyota displays historic GT machines and offers demo runs of TS010 and ESSO Ultraflo Supra

The special Toyota GT Traditional Pedigree event will be held at the Super GT Round 6 Suzuka 1000km race at Suzuka Circuit from August 27 to 28 to introduce historic Toyota GT machines.

Toyota participated in the Super GT’s predecessor the All Japan GT Competition (JGTC) for the first time in 1994 with the Supra. Toyota started its excellent run in 1997 by being champion for both driver and team, and then went on to be champion for drivers 4 times and teams 2 times by the time the race became the Super GT in 2005. The Lexus SC430 debuted in 2006 and managed to be double champion that year. It has since been driver champion 3 times and team champion 4 times since, leaving a glorious record.

Toyota has also raced on the world stage since it first joined the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1985. It first entered the World Sportscar Championship (SWC) in 1992 with the TS010. In 1999, drivers Ukyo Katayama, Toshio Suzuki and Keiichi Tsuchiya overcame an accident at 24 Hours of Le Mans and managed to grab hold of 2nd place.

At the event, the TS010, TS020, and ESSO Ultraflo Supra historic racing machines will be on display at GP Square. The night before the opening of the event on August 28, spectators can watch the TS010 and ESSO Ultraflo Supra dash on the Suzuka East Course with their engine sound from back in the day.
