2016 24 Hours Nürburgring: Toyota uploads photo of the C-HR Racing slated to race at Nürburgring

Toyota Gazoo Racing announced that the C-HR compact crossover, which was introduced last year, will be participating at the 44th 24 Hours Nürburgring endurance race to be held in Germany from May 26 to 29. They have uploaded a photo of the C-HR outfitted with a race car exterior.

The 24 Hours of Nürburgring plays an important role in Toyota’s motorsports activities for building ever-better human resources and vehicles under intense racing conditions. Beginning in 2007, the 2016 event marks the 10th year of Toyota’s participation in the race under the banner of GAZOO racing. In 2016, Toyota GAZOO Racing will be participating with these three vehicles: the Toyota C-HR Racing, the Lexus RC, and the Lexus RC F.

Toyota C-HR Racing challenges to create ever-better cars using a crossover rather than a pure sports car. The drivers are Masahiko Kageyama, Kumi Sato, and another driver yet to be assigned.

For its second consecutive year at Nürburgring, the Lexus RC incorporates the reliability and quality that was honed last year, as well as further improvements and new technologies for this year’s car. The drivers are Takayuki Kinoshita, Naoya Gamou, and another driver yet to be assigned.

In addition to helping develop dedicated cars for motorsports, TOM’S is also on the front line in race management for the Lexus RC F. Toyota will learn from the passion and know-how of veteran TOM’S mechanics to boost the development of ever-better human resources in Toyota. The drivers are Takeshi Tsuchiya, Kazuya Oshima, Takuto Iguchi, and Takamitsu Matsui.

Team Representative Akio Toyoda said: “The intensity of racing and unforgiving conditions at Nürburgring hone both our team members and our cars. This is the real meaning of motorsport. That’s why Toyota will continue to take part in motorsports to build ever-better cars, boost the number of vehicle enthusiasts, and bring a smile to the faces of our customers.”
