On January 13, the 2016 Dakar Rally Stage 10 was conducted from Belén to La Rioja in Argentina. They had to pass through the most difficult way, in the Fiambalá desert.
Due to the heavy rain, the level of water in the river they had to pass through rose up, and the scheduled race at 7:00AM was moved to an hour later. Nevertheless, the water level of the river before the finish line rose up, so the race ended with a distance reduced by around 30km in Stage 10.
Team HRC’s Paulo Goncalves had to back out from a certain part in the championship race due to the radiator in his motorcycle being hit by a branch in Stage 9. He carefully rode the motorcycle at Stage 10, which had a long sand hill along the way, and by achieving 4th place in this stage, he qualified for the next day of the race.
Moreover, Ricky Brabec, who participated in Dakar Rally for the first time, moved up to 8th place in this stage. Working as a supporting rider, Paolo Ceci contributed to their team, as he placed 24th in the rank. On the other hand, Michael Metge had a machine trouble so he had to call the race off and missed the start of the race this morning.
