On November 3, 2015, Lexus announced at the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, USA, that they will launch the F Performance Racing.
The F Performance Racing is created to carry on with the team’s racing activities by using Lexus’s newly-introduced racing car, the RC F GT3. It is set to join the 2016 season of sports car series in USA.
The RC F GT3 was unveiled as a concept car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March 2014. The RC F is the new RC coupe high performance racing car. Lexus plans to provide a machine for the GT3 at the FIA (International Automobile Federation), an accredited international racing association. Because of that, Lexus developed the RC F GT3.
As for the body size of the RC F GT3, its overall length is 4,705mm, its overall width is 2,000mm, its overall height is 1,270mm, and its wheel base is 2,730mm. Compared to the production version of the RC F (overall length: 4,705mm, width: 1,850mm, height: 1,390mm, wheelbase: 2,730mm), it was made wider by 150mm and it has an impressive design as if it crawls on the ground as it was made lower by 120mm.
Lexus appointed the legendary racer Scott Pruett as the driver of the RC F GT3 in the newly-instituted F Performance Racing. Lexus will be focusing on machine developments in the first year of the F Performance Racing in 2016, and is aiming to conduct actual activities in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
