This consolidation, effective April 11, will clarify the role of Toyota’s motorsports activities in its efforts to manufacture better cars and foster car aficionados. Toyota will participate in the WEC, the the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race, and the Japanese Rally Championship under the team name Toyota GAZOO Racing. The first event Toyota GAZOO Racing will participate in will be the 2015 Motor Sport Japan Festival in Odaiba, to be held in Aomi, Tokyo from April 11 to 12. Furthermore, activities that will foster new car enthusiasts and improve the manufacturing of cars will use the Toyota Gazoo Racing logo.

Toyota President Akio Toyoda said regarding the consolidation, “Our founder Kiichiro Toyoda once said that motorsports are vital to the evolution of car making and the entire auto industry. With this in mind, GAZOO Racing has carried out activities aiming to nurture our people, develop our cars, and inspire new car enthusiasts.”

Toyota has also established the Motor Sport Group on April 1 to consolidate motorsports vehicle development, technical support and marketing efforts that were previously handled by different divisions of the company. These consolidation strategy will foster new car racing enthusiasts because feedback from motorsports activities will be reflected to the vehicle development and consequently encourage people of Toyota to develop even better cars.

The Motor Sport Group will also promote the hands-on, boots-on-the-ground methods of training its mechanics and engineers.
