McLaren-Honda racers driving through the straightaway

2015 Suzuka Fan Appreciation Day: McLaren-Honda entertains the crowd with sounds from different generations

The 2015 Motorsports Fan Thanks Day was held on March 7 at Suzuka Circuit where Honda showcased three of its McLaren-Honda racers from different generations in the first event of the day.

Featured at the pit lane were McLaren-Honda’s MP4/4, MP4/5, and MP4/6, which captured the driver’s and constructor’s championships. Inside the cockpit of these machines were Takuya Izawa, Kodai Tsukakoshi, and Naoki Yamamoto, who are competing at this year’s Super Formula, the finest race in Japan.

The grandstand filled up quickly with a large crowd of fans who all gathered to watch these cars as they made their way out of the garage. The audience was revved up as they were able to hear the sound of different engines, which consisted of a 1.6-liter V6 turbo on the MP4/4, a 3.5-liter V10 on the MP4/5, and a 3.5-liter V12 on the MP4/6, all running a lap and through the main straightaway.

Also scheduled for this event is a demo run with F1 racing cars of the past involving the Tyrrell 019 and the Larrousse LC90.
