Subaru rally car demo run

2015 Tokyo Auto Salon: Arai Toshihiro limit drives with rally car

The 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon was held at the Makuhari Messe. The demo run for Subaru, the WRX STI rally car was driven by Toshihiro Arai in an outdoor special travelling area.

First he slowly entered the course, waved his hand then gradually paced up upon greeting the crowd in the viewing area. He then immediately showed a run in full speed. The audience are enlivened with the flashy running performances every year. However, this year, Arai showed a drifting performance that approaching only 10cm away from the sponge barrier. He showed off a donut turn that approached as much as possible to the audience area. The audience seemed thrilled with the performance that seemed greater than that of the previous years.

After crossing the checkered flag, Arai got off the vehicle and met the cheering audience. “Even though things may appear this way, the speed is rather slower compared to the actual run. Because we normally enter the corner at around 200km/h and place the vehicle in sideways position.” Arai explained. He also introduced the charm of the All Japan Rally Championship. He said, “I certainly want you to go to that place if you have the time.”

In addition, he plans to participate using the new WRX STI at the All Japan Rally Championship, the said vehicle was displayed at the Subaru booth. This became a vehicle that we could not overlook.
