Yamaha Motor recognized by German Design Award for second straight year

Yamaha Motor Company’s XSR900 motorcycle and 242 Limited S sports boat have been recognized as “Winner,” an award of excellence, in the transportation category of the 2018 German Design Award. This marks the second time that Yamaha has received this award following last year’s recognition of the YZF-R1.

The German Design Award is a globally prestigious award for which the German Design Council nominates products from all over the world that have been rated highly for their exceptional design, and as a result, these products qualify for application. “Winner” is an award of excellence presented to products by a group of judges in each category.

The XSR900 was designed for consumers in developed markets, where there’s a culture of enjoying motorcycles as a hobby, seeking traditional styling. It offers a new combination of simple and retro styling with riding performance resulting from leading technology to provide riders with the pleasure of ownership and riding enjoyment.

The 242 Limited S is Yamaha’s top-of-the-line jet propulsion sports boat. It provides enhanced comfort through a new display system that allows for centralized management of electronic equipment operations and information display as well as improved stability and control by establishing a new hull and movable keel. This model was designed for those wanting to enjoy North American-style marine leisure and relax while cruising, towing or at anchor.

Meanwhile, Yamaha’s MT-10SP motorcycle, F25 and F100 outboard motors, and MJ-GP1800 and MJ-EX Deluxe personal watercrafts were also honored, under “Special Mention.”
