Yamaha Motor to preview the future of technology in Tokyo

Yamaha Motor Company’s booth for the 45th Tokyo Motor Show 2017, which will be held from October 25 to November 5 (general admission from October 28) at Tokyo Big Sight, will be based on the theme “Yamaha Future Garage: Resonate the Future.”

Yamaha Motor will be showcasing 20 models in all, including six world premiere models and four Japan premiere models. Their lineup will include electrically power-assisted bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, Leaning Multi-Wheelers (LMW) and a design concept automobile.

The MOTOROID, which will make its world premiere, is an experimental machine that employs artificial intelligence to create “new forms of personal mobility in which the rider resonates harmoniously with the machine.” Based on its “Unleashed Prototype” development concept, the MOTOROID can recognize its owner and is capable of interacting like a living creature.

MOTOBOT Ver.2, which will also make its global debut, is an autonomous motorcycle-riding robot that combines motorcycle technology with robotics technology. Through emphasis on its operation from the standpoint of the rider, MOTOBOT can now be ridden on circuits at high speeds.

Yamaha Motor’s lineup of global premieres also includes the MWC-4. This LMW with two wheels each at the front and rear was developed under the concept of “Half-Sized Mobility.” In addition to comfort that isn’t available on any other motorcycle, the MWC-4 offers a ride that feels like nothing else through its range extender-equipped electric motor and attitude control technology. These are presented with styling that was inspired by Yamaha’s motorcycles and musical instruments.
