Suzuki Gixxer

Suzuki introduces Gixxer to Japanese market, set for January 27 release

Suzuki announced that it is releasing the Gixxer in Japan and it goes on sale January 27. The Gixxer is a 150cc road sports bike that is produced and sold in India.

The Gixxer combines sporty design with powerful acceleration performance and excellent fuel economy. Styled as a sports bike, it shares the image of Suzuki’s full-sized bikes with design features such as its unity from the headlights back to the tank, its bulky tank, and slim seat.

Its light, rigid and high frame is equipped with a specially developed compact air-cooling 154cc single cylinder engine. Designed to reduce friction and improve combustion efficiency, it puts out 13.6ps and offers 14Nm of torque. Along with powerful acceleration, this also gives it an excellent fuel efficiency of 58.8km/L (60km/h steady state fuel economy).

Other sports bike features include high visibility full digital liquid crystal multi-functional display for the meters, front and back wheel disc brakes, large front fork, and 7-step adjustable rear suspension.

The price is 316,440 yen.

The Gixxer started production and sales in India in 2014 and was exported to Asia and Latin America. By introducing this globally popular model to the Japanese market, Suzuki hopes to stir up new demand for kei motorcycles.
