Yamaha unveils XMAX 300 scooter for Europe with newly developed engine

Yamaha will release the new XMAX 300 compact scooter for Europe in March, 2017.

Demand for the 126-300cc scooter market in all of Europe is about 90,000 units. These scooters are used mostly for commuting and the market is forecasted to be stable. The new XMAX 300 is the successor model to the XMAX 250, which had a great reputation for its styling and excellent riding.

The XMAX 300 was developed for the global market under the concept “MAXimize, commuting FUNction” to strike a balance between an excellent ride and functionality. It has a new water-cooling BLUE CORE engine loaded on its compact 179kg body that offers excellent acceleration and environmental efficiency for a sporty riding experience.

It has the telescopic front fork of a sports bike and ABS and TCS (Traction Control System) for a smooth ride. Features for improved functionality include a trunk under the seat where two helmets can be stored and a smart key that allows the rider to start the bike with a main switch without taking out the key.

The design gets down into the details, featuring the MAX series’ “Boomerang” motif and two-lens headlights, as well as a face and tail with an “X” motif.

The price is 5,499 euro (about 632,000 yen). Yamaha plans for its Indonesian group company YIMM to build the XMAX 300 and it is set for release in Europe and globally.
