According to the Japan Automobile Manufacturing Association’s May motorcycle and scooter production figures, total production was down 3.4% year-on-year at 30,482 units, marking the first decline in 4 months.
Compact two-wheeled vehicles were down 3.4% at 20,202 units, marking the first decline in 4 months and kei two-wheelers were up 42.8% at 5,071 units, marking the first growth in 3 months.
Sales of motorcycles in the under-50cc class declined 25.9% at 2,747, marking the first decline in 6 months. The under-125cc class saw a 27.1% decrease in sales at 2,462 units, marking the first decrease in 3 months.
Demand in Japan was down 23.1% at 22,267 units and exports were up 2.6% at 25,570 units.
