Yamaha's new motorcycle plant in Nigeria

Yamaha reenters Nigerian motorcycle market with new plant

On May 13, Yamaha Motor Company (hereafter “Yamaha”) commenced operations at its new motorcycle factory in Lagos, Nigeria.

Back in 2005, Yamaha ceased production of motorcycles for the Nigerian market. With this new plant, Yamaha motorcycles will be available in Nigeria for the first time in 11 years.

CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria, a joint venture between Yamaha and French company CFAO, commenced operations of the motorcycle production plant, showroom and technical academy.

Based in Paris, France CFAO is a group company of Toyota Tsusho in Japan with over 110 years of history. It serves as a distributor of major international brands for the African market.

Moreover, CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria is expected to produce 70,000 motorcycles by 2018.
