The body inherited from the MT-09 with its 845cc parallel 3-cylinder engine added to a CF aluminum die-cast frame has been remade under the design concept “The Performance Retro Star.”
This is much-talked-about modern but retro-styled XSR900, which was on display at the Yamaha booth at the Osaka Motorcycle Show.
The XSR900 first appeared at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan in November. Since there were no plans yet to introduce the bike in Japan, Japanese fans were hoping it would make an appearance this spring in Osaka, and they weren’t let down.
In addition to features like traction control and Assist & Slip Clutch, it also has a handmade aluminum tank cover, three-part fender, and radial-mounted 4-pot calipers.
More detailed changes include newly designed aluminum radiator cover, muffler protector, and silencer cover.
Sales of the XSR900 started on April 15 at a price of 1,042,200 yen. There are also plans for a limited edition XSR900 60th Anniversary at 1,074,600 yen to celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary. Orders will be taken until the last day of September. Orders will be taken at dealerships that sell Yamaha sports bikes all over Japan.
Currently, Yamaha is planning to exhibit the bike at the 2016 Tokyo Motorcycle Show at Tokyo Big Sight from March 25 to 27.
