Yamaha releases 2016 MT-09, adds traction control to its ABS

Yamaha released the 2016 edition of the MT-09 large sport motorcycle series. They will start sequentially selling it on February 10, 2016.

The MT-09 is a huge sportsbike that’s been equipped with a water cooling 3-cylinder 846cc engine that was developed based on the Crossplane concept. It has been gaining popularity with its original design with bold and supermotard characteristics, as well as a torquey performance.

The MT-09A that has an anti-lock braking system (ABS) has adopted a new traction control system (TCS). When detecting the spinning of the rear wheel during departure or acceleration, it controls both the fuel injection quantity and the throttle valve aperture during ignition, supporting a smooth departure and running performance.

It has also been added with Matte Silver as a new color. It emphasizes the image of the Yamaha RB (Race Blue) with its new black-coated aluminum frame. Furthermore, the MT-09A and the MT-09 are also equipped with red as a new color. It still also has a Matte Gray and Violet color coordination.

The MT-09A costs 915,840 yen and it will be released on March 1. On the other hand, the MT-09 costs 849,960 and it will be released on February 10.
