Infiniti’s 3.0-liter V6 twin turbo named one of WardsAuto’s 10 best engines

On December 12, Infiniti announced that Nissan’s newly developed 3.0-liter V6 twin turbo engine was named one of the 10 Best Engines of 2017 by WardsAuto magazine.

WardsAuto’s 10 Best Engines has been held since 1995 and this year marks its 23rd year. Often referred to as “the Oscars for engines,” it honors the 10 best engines in terms of performance. Editors of the magazines select the winners by focusing on their entertainment value and environmental performance.

To qualify for selection, each engine must be available in the U.S. market until the end of March 2017. Also, the vehicles equipped with these engines must be priced under 62,000 USD (approx. 7.15 million yen). Thereby, supercars such as the Ferrari, Lamborghini and the Nissan GT-R are excluded from selection.

One of the engines chosen for 2017 honors is Nissan’s 3.0-liter V6 twin turbo engine featured on the Infiniti Q50 (the Nissan Skyline, in Japan) and the all-new Q60 (the next-gen Skyline Coupe, in Japan). It offers two types of tuning with the more powerful version generating 405ps of maximum output.

WardsAuto magazines’ Director Dave Zoia said, “This V6 twin turbo can compete with its German competition. The engine is smooth as silk and exceptionally quiet.”
