On December 9, the judges of Japan Car Of The Year gave the Honda NSX a special 2016-2017 Japan Car Of The Year award.
Comments on the JCOTY official website praised the NSX, saying, “This hybrid sports car shows a high level of maturity with its excellent driving performance. It is an important model in offering a glimpse of the future of hybrid technology, at which Japan excels.”
Since the NSX has a yearly sales goal of 1 million, which is below the JCOTY standard of at least 5 million, the committee gave it a special award.
The Japan Car Of The Year award went to the Subaru Impreza and the Import category award went to the Audi A4 series.
