On April 15, Subaru of America announced that it will attempt to set a new record at the Isle of Man TT course.
The Isle of Man TT is a legendary motorcycle road race held annually in the UK. In its attempt to finish the 60.8km public road course in the fastest time possible, in 2011, Subaru set a record time for a production automobile at 19 min 56.7 sec with their Impreza WRX STI.
In June 2014, Subaru was able to record a faster time of 19 min 15 sec with their WRX STI yet again, beating its own record by around 40 seconds. The average speed recorded during this attempt was 189.1km/h.
This time, Subaru announced its third attempt at the Isle of Man TT. The driver will again be former rally champion Mark Higgins of the UK. He will aim to break the record he set in 2014.
Subaru has revealed an image of its WRX STI time attack car that will challenge at the Isle of Man TT. The exterior features a similar look to Subaru’s endurance racing models such as the Nurburgring and Le Mans. It was developed mainly by Prodrive with technical assistance provided by Subaru Tecnica International (STI).
