On September 26, Lexus announced that the base price for its all-new LS, which will be introduced to the U.S. market in February 2018, will be around $75,000 U.S. (approx. 8.45 million yen)
The new LS features Lexus’ all-new advanced safety system. Lane departure alert, lane keep assist, intelligent high beam and other functions will come standardized on all models as part of Lexus Safety System +.
For drivers seeking more advanced safety features, Lexus Safety System +A is available as an option. This includes pedestrian alert, active steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, front cross traffic alert and other features.
Of particular note is the front cross traffic alert system which helps prevent collisions at intersections. Its front direction radar detects the direction from which a vehicle is approaching an intersection and alerts the driver through a large HUD. Whenever the driver proceeds ahead regardless of vehicles approaching the intersection, the system alerts the driver through alarm signals and a multi-information display.
Lexus Safety System +A also features Lexus CoDrive, which helps maintain in-lane driving and with lane changes. By combining lane tracing assist with radar cruise control, Lexus CoDrive provides steering support for highways and expressways.
