Daihatsu unveiled its DN F-SEDAN and DN MULTISIX, at the 2017 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). These concepts offer a new sense of value for the compact class segment.
Both models were designed in collaboration with PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) based in Indonesia. The DN F-SEDAN is a compact sedan for the A segment featuring a coupe-like silhouette. As there is no sedan currently offered as part of ADM’s lineup, the DN F-SEDAN may very well have been developed for Daihatsu’s entry into a new market in Indonesia.
The exterior of the DN F-SEDAN measures at 4,200 x 1,695 x 1,430mm (length x width x height). Based on its anticipated 1.2-liter engine, this sedan may even rank atop the highly popular Ayla as an entry-level model. Though the Ayla offers a 1.2-liter engine as well for its high-end trim, sales of this city car center mainly on its 1.0-liter grade.
Meanwhile, the DN MULTISIX offers the features of a minivan that currently aren’t available within Daihatsu lineup in Indonesia. Its exterior dimensions of 4,310 x 1,720 x 1,695mm (length x width x height) are larger than the best-selling Xenia. However, the DN MULTISIX is a six-seater whereas the Xenia seats up to seven passengers.
In addition, the DN MULTISIX offers an edge over the Xenia in terms of convenience through easy access within the vehicle that features a sliding center console. Though minivans are mainly portrayed as family cars in Indonesia, it looks like Daihatsu has desires of introducing a compact, luxury model into this segment.
