Honda’s Clarity EV arrives in the U.S.

On August 2 (in Japan), American Honda announced the release of its all-new Clarity Electric.

The Clarity Electric, an electric version of Honda’s Clarity Fuel Cell FCV, meets the demands of those looking for the cleanliness of an electric vehicle for daily use and the high-quality and spacious interior of a sedan.

The EV powertrain motor generates 161hp of maximum output and 30.6kgm of maximum torque. It also features a 25.5kWh lithium-ion battery that can run for up to 130km on a single charge. The battery can be fully charged in around three hours at 240 volts. However, if charged using a DC fast charger, the battery can be recharged to 80% power in just 30 minutes.

On August 2, the first fleet of Honda’s Clarity Electric arrived and was released at its dealerships in California and Oregon. The new EV can be leased for $269 US per month on a three-year term.

Moreover, the Clarity Electric is loaded with in-vehicle connectivity features and comes standardized with a navigation system that offers a full range of functions including Honda Link for connection to smartphones, voice recognition, and information on traffic and nearby charging stations. The system is also compatible with Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto.
