Honda unveils new Clarity PHV and Electric in New York

On April 12, Honda Motor Company unveiled its Clarity PHV and Clarity Electric at the 2017 New York International Auto Show in the U.S.

With the introduction of these new models that feature environmentally friendly powertrains―a PHV and EV―on the same body as the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell, Honda has expanded its Clarity series lineup.

The Clarity PHV combines a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder Atkinson cycle gasoline engine with an electric motor that generates 181hp of maximum output and 32.1kgm of maximum torque. It also comes with a 17kWh battery pack that allows for up to around 67km of zero emission driving.

The Clarity Electric comes loaded with a motor that generates 161hp of maximum output and 30.6kgm of maximum torque. Its 25.5kWh battery back can be fully recharged in approximately three hours at 240V. With DC fast charging, 80% of the battery can be recharged in just 30 minutes.
