Volkswagen Tiguan Production Started in India

In recent news, Volkswagen has noted of its new SUV Tiguan to be started with the production in Aurangabad, Maharashtra India. The car is ready for a launch in the month of April, and VW wants to produce the cars on time for customers.

VW Tiguan, which came into view at the Auto Expo 2016, is a variant designed using the group’s MWB concept which is also responsible for designing the likes of Octavia and Passat. Volkswagen Tiguan is the new SUV launching in the Indian auto market after the discontinuation of the Touareg a few years back.

VW will offer this second-generation SUV variant for the first time in India. Looking at its exterior design, the Tiguan comes with a sporty look, privileges of the MQB platform, with a lighter design (almost 50kg lighter than the first-generation Tiguan).

Under the hood, it comprises of a 2.0-litre diesel unit with 177bhp power offered at 350Nm torque. It also features a seven-speed DSG gearbox with an AWD system. The SUV is reportedly rivaling the likes of Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, and the upcoming Jeep Compass. The expected price tag on the car is around Rs. 30 to 35 lakh (ex-showroom price).
