Jeep Compass to Debut in India on April 12

Jeep is looking forward to making a comeback in the Indian automotive platform with its Compass SUV. The upcoming car is reportedly going to be assembled in India only at Fiat’s facility located in Ranjangaon. Jeep Compass is reported to debut on April 12, 2017.

The focus on the Indian market is going to be a diversified one featuring a number of models including a 4×4 drive, an automatic, a diesel, and a petrol one. Jeep hopes to build a dynamic reputation with all these variants in the Indian market.
Even though Jeep has not revealed the actual details for the upcoming SUV, sources have made their predictions about what the vehicle is going to feature under the hood. It is noted that the Jeep Compass diesel model will offer a four-cylinder, multijet 2.0-litre engine that comprises of 170hp at 350Nm torque. There is also rumored to be a nine-speed automatic gearbox with the engine.

Meanwhile, the petrol variant is said to have a 1.4-litre, multiair engine with 140hp. The petrol engine is also noted to offer electro-hydraulic solenoids in the middle of the valve and camshaft with a turbocharger, which will let the car build up accurate variable timing. According to sources, the Jeep’s petrol variant could have an increased efficiency and power with this setup, more than a regular timing engine valve. Jeep also noted of sticking to its signature off-road driving aspects with its upcoming SUV. The 4×4 framework is reported to offer a better traction management system with low ratio which will help offer better endurance over rocky, sandy, muddy terrains etc.

When it comes to exterior designing, the Indian model will be almost similar to the international variant. However, the interiors might face some changes which include metal finishing and dual-tone upholstery which are some of the preferences suited for Indian customers. The more premium variants will feature leather upholstery, locking variations, and panoramic sunroof.

Expect the Jeep Compass SUV to offer rivalry to the likes of Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V. The set price for the car going to be from Rs 18 to 25 Lakh.
