On March 7, Hyundai unveiled the FE Fuel Cell Concept at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show.
In 2013, Hyundai released the ix35 Fuel Cell mass market FCV (the Tuscon in some markets). It heralded it as the world’s first mass market FCV. Currently, it is sold in 17 countries around the world.
The FE Fuel Cell Concept is a concept model that shows the future direction of Hyundai’s next-gen FCV’s. Like the ix35 Fuel Cell, it has an SUV body.
The FE Fuel Cell is equipped with Hyundai’s 4th generation fuel cell technology. Hyundai says that it is 20% lighter and 10% more efficient than the current model.
Hyundai plans to release a next-generation FCV strongly influenced by this concept car in 2018. Hyundai says, “We are working toward developing a model that can drive over 800km on a full hydrogen tank.”
