On March 7, Honda made the world premiere of the new Civic Type R mass market model at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show.
Honda showed the next-gen Civic Type R prototype at the 2016 Paris Motor Show last fall. The prototype model had a new design that reworked many of its details.
The powertrain has been upgraded to a 2.0L in-line V4 gasoline VTEC turbo engine that puts out 320ps and gets 40.8kgm of torque.
The transmission is 6-speed MT with rev matching control. Honda explains, “Through optimizing the engine’s control settings, we’ve managed to improve throttle response and driveability.”
