In early February, Mercedes-Benz launched its all-new Mercedes AMG E63S 4MATIC+ to the European market. This new model with an “S” attached after “E63,” is a high-performance model to the new Mercedes AMG E63 4MATIC+.
The powertrain is a direct-injection 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine with twin turbos. For the “S” trim, this engine, which is featured on the Mercedes AMG GT sports car, offers 612hp/5,750-6,500rpm of maximum output and 86.7kgm/2,500-4,500rpm of maximum torque.
Compared with the standard grade, which generates 571hp/5,750-6,500rpm of maximum output and 76.5kgm/2,250-5,000rpm of maximum torque, the powerful “S” offers upgrades of 41hp and 10.2kgm, respectively.
The new Mercedes AMG E63S 4MATIC+ features a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission system and full-time 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive that allows for torque variable distribution. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the standard trim. The “S” reaches speeds of up 250km/h, which then applies a variable speed limiter. With the optional AMG Driver’s Package, the limiter can be adjusted to 290km/h.
The German automaker has also enhanced the suspension and brakes for the “S” and gave it an AMG-like look throughout the cabin and exterior. As with the standard grade, the “S” features the model’s first redesign from the A-pillar to the front end. In addition, the front grille, bumper and bonnet are all exclusively designed and the fender has been stretched out by 27mm to accommodate its wide tires.
