Hitachi Automotive Systems announced that its lightweight, compact lithium-ion battery module is featured on the power packs (100 volt lithium-ion battery & inverter) of the all-new Suzuki Solio and Solio Bandit hybrid models.
This lithium-ion battery module was manufactured through the know-how of Hitachi Vehicle Energy, a Hitachi Group company, in mass production and quality control cultivated over many years. The module combines a high performance, highly reliable battery cell with a voltage detection board into a single unit.
Through the use of a resin case, the battery module is 35% lighter relative to previous modules. This compact module is also easy to mount as its height has been lowered by 37%.
In 1999, Hitachi Automotive Systems became the first company to launch an automotive lithium-ion battery business and has since supplied over 10 million lithium-ion battery cells for a wide range of hybrid models including passenger cars as well as buses and trucks for commercial use.
