On October 25, Mitsubishi Motors North America announced that it will present the eX Concept for the first time in North America at the 2016 Los Angeles International Auto Show, which opens its doors on November 14.
The eX Concept made its world premiere in the fall of 2015 at the Tokyo Motor Show. It is a compact SUV concept car that offers excellent environmental performance through its next-gen EV system, powerful yet smooth acceleration, a thoroughly rigid body, excellent handling and superior stability through its twin motor 4WD and S-AWC control system, and semi-automatic parking and driving for highway driving through its collision avoidance and connected car technology.
The next-gen EV system consists of components like a secondary battery that offers greatly improved energy density and compact high-powered motors for the front and back. Through not only making the system more compact and higher efficiency but also further reducing the size of the car’s body, it can now reach a cruising range of 400km.
The front and back motors each put out 95ps for a total of 190ps, giving it the smooth and powerful acceleration that EVs are known for.
It also uses the S-AWC control system based on the twin-motor 4WD that uses the Active Yaw Control (AYC) system. This system controls the brake for the front and for the rear, a mechanism for transferring torque from left to right. This system allows the driver to control torque for the back wheels at will, giving it handling that’s totally under the driver’s control and superior stability.
