Subaru Levorg 1.6GT EyeSight Smart Edition

50th Anniversary of the Boxer Engine: Subaru Announces 3 Commemorative Edition Models

On 3 October, Fuji Heavy Industries announced they would begin selling 3 special models to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of Subaru’s first car mounted with a boxer engine (horizontally opposed), the Subaru 1000.

Marking the 4th 50th anniversary commemorative model by the company, the Levorg 1.6GT EyeSight Smart Edition takes the 1.6GT EyeSight as a base and comes standard with an advanced safety package. Other than coming with custom 17 inch aluminium and black rear view mirrors, the exterior also boasts LED headlamps in line with the high grade headlamps of the 1.6GT-S EyeSight and dark, decorative plating and a black front grill. The interior has an 8-direction power seat for the driver’s seat, and a sports accelerator, complete with aluminium pad. This vehicle costs ¥2,905,200 ($28,000 USD) and will be made available on 12 December for purchase.

The 5th model is the Crossover 7 Active Style, which takes the 2.5i EyeSight for its base. With a charcoal grey and tan interior, the car comes with special waterproof seats and reversible cargo floorboards, improving usability. In addition, the exterior also sees custom 17 inch aluminium wheels, giving the vehicle more of an “active” tone. The vehicle goes for ¥2,764,800 ($27,000 USD) and will go on sale from 3 October.

The 6th model, the Forrester Style Modern, uses the 2.0i-L EyeSight as a basis, has custom ultra suede seating with blue-green stitching. The exterior comes with chrome lining around all side windows and side grating, with 18 inch aluminium wheels and tires special to the S-Limited model. Price is listed as ¥2,808,000 and will be available for purchase on 3 October.
