Mazda to release MX-5 Miata RF Launch Edition in limited run of 1,000

On August 18, Mazda North America announced that it was releasing the commemorative MX-5 Miata RF Launch Edition with a limited run of 1,000.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata RF made its debut at the New York Auto Show in March, 2016. Although still offered at the price of a retractable hard-top model, the idea behind the new model is to forge ahead and not to stick to the idea behind the previous model.

The result is a unique fastback style for the roofline that takes it from the roof to the rear end in a gentle slope and a special rear roof shape and openable back window that gives it a whole new open-air feeling. Advances have been made toward full electrical with an electrical roof that can be opened when the car is cruising at 10km/h or less.

Furthermore, its storage space manages to create the storage capacity of a fastback design and soft-top model while keeping the space compact and efficient. The power train options are Skyactiv-G 1.5 gasoline engine and Skyactiv-G 2.0 for the North American version.

The Launch Edition is a commemorative model that’s limited to just 1,000 for the American market. The base model is the Grand Touring. The body color is Machine Grey Metallic and interior features such as the seats use nappa leather. The roof panel is black. New York-based global watch seller Tourneau is giving a 42mm watch to purchasers.
