Daihatsu Hijet Caddy: Senior Executive Officer Ueda “From Load Capacity Toward Usability”

Daihatsu Motor Company announced on June 13 that their new, lightweight commercial vehicle, the Hijet Caddy, would be made available for purchase that same day. The vehicle was developed by taking the wide-interior Wake as a basis for its design.

Daihatsu plans to sell 1,000 units per month, the price for the vehicle ranges between \1,190,000 JPY ($10,710 USD) and \1,560,000 JPY ($14,690 USD). With considerations made for ease of operation by elderly and female drivers, a top class low floor luggage compartment, the vehicle also includes Daihatsu’s latest safety technology known as Smart Assist.

Senior Daihatsu Executive Toru Ueda was present at the announcement, held in Tokyo, emphasized that “We’ve taken a commercial vehicle centered on load capacity and moved more towards usability,” going on to state that the car “can serve work-related needs as well as those of the day-to-day lives of our customers.”
