In mid-March, Mazda North American Operations announced its base price for the all-new CX-9 in the US.
The CX-9 is a midsize SUV for the North American market. The new second-generation model was unveiled last November at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.
It features Mazda’s latest Kodo – Soul of Motion design theme in pursuit of powerful styling. The exterior length has been trimmed down by 30mm from the previous model to 5,065mm. Meanwhile, the wheelbase has been extended by 55mm, adding extra space to the rear seating and the rest of the interior.
For the powertrain, Mazda has incorporated its newly developed SKYACTIV-G 2.5T system. This 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline turbo engine, which was downsized from the 3.7-liter naturally aspirated V6 gasoline system on the previous model, generates 250hp/5,000rpm of maximum output and 42.8kgm/2,000rpm of maximum torque. It combines outstanding performance with exceptional fuel-efficiency with contributions from its reduced cargo weight of up to 130kg from the previous CX-9.
According to Mazda’s announcement, the base price for the all-new CX-9 is 31,520 USD (approx. 3,540,000 yen). The price has been increased by 1,535 USD (approx. 170,000) from the 29,985 USD (approx. 3,370,000 yen) for the previous CX-9. Mazda North American Operations’ Executive Vice President Robert Davis said, “The CX-9 is Mazda’s flagship and portends a future of innovative technologies and amenities that we believe will further elevate our vehicles in their respective classes.â€
