Acura unveiled the new NSX GT3 at the 2016 New York International Auto Show as it opened its doors on March 23.
The NSX GT3 is a racing car under development that’s based on the new NSX. It is designed to meet the FIA’s GT3 regulations and hopefully attain FIA accreditation this fall.
The NSX GT3 has an aluminum frame and uses the same raw materials for high rigidity and light weight as the new NSX. It also has improved aerodynamics with features like its large-sized rear wing and diffuser.
At mid-ship, it has the same 3.5L V6 gasoline twin turbo engine as the new NSX. It also has the mass market model’s engine block, head, bulb train, crankshaft, pistons, and dry sump oil lubrication system. The transmission is 6-speed sequential.
Also like the mass market model, the NSX GT3 is being built at Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio. Honda plans to start entering it into GT3 category races in 2017.
