Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. (TMS) announced that it will be exhibiting six concept cars by Scion at the 2016 New York Auto Show to be held from March 23.
Toyota announced on February 3 that it will phase out the Scion brand, its youth brand in the United States. Most models in the product lineup of Scion will be rebadged as Toyota.
The starting point of the Scion brand was the BBx Concept Car, which was announced at the New York Auto Show in the spring of 2002. At the 2016 New York Auto Show, Scion will be exhibiting six innovative models that it had over the last 14 years.
In addition to the BBx of 2002, the xA Speedster Concept by Five Axis of 2004, the Kogi BBQ truck xD and the iQ Concept of 2009, the FR-S Concept of 2011, and the Slayer tC of 2014 will be exhibited at the Scion booth.
Scion Vice President Andrew Gilleland said: “I would like to apologize to the fans regarding Scion being rebadged as Toyota. However, this is the right choice, and Scion’s spirit will live on.”
