Acura announced that it will make the US debut of the new NSX with a new body color at the 2016 Chicago Motor Show, which opens its doors on February 11.
The light new NSX has a direct-injection 3.5L (3493cc) V6 twin turbo engine at mid-ship. It puts out 500hp/6500-7500rpm and gets 56.1kgm/2000-6000rpm maximum torque.
It’s equipped with the high-efficiency, high-output Sport Hybrid SH-AWD 3-motor hybrid system. The layout’s 3 motors include 2 in the front and a rear motor that’s set up with the 9-speed dual clutch transmission. The motor puts out 73hp and the total system offers 573hp.
One of the standout features of the new NSX is that it has a 4WD hybrid system that can use torque vectoring to freely control the power of all 4 wheels using two motors that independently operate the front right and left wheel. The weight distribution between front and back is 42 to 58. It uses light materials such as aluminum and carbon fiber to achieve a body weight of 1725kg. The maximum speed is roughly 307km/h.
Orders are set to start for the new NSX in the US on February 25. The company has announced a base price for US buyers of $156,000. An NSX with the 130R White body color and a red interior will make its US debut at the 2016 Chicago Motor Show in a specially prepared Suzuka Circuit corner in order to boost its appeal.
