Toyota and BMW have teamed up to develop a new sports car and what is believed to be its prototype was spotted for the first time.
Quietly appearing in the late hours of Scandinavia was the Z5, which succeeds the Z4 and will be sold under the BMW brand. The Toyota version will likely be released as the next-generation Supra.
BMW will be in charge of the lightweight chassis and power unit for this jointly developed model, which will include a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbo unit that will be equipped on the Toyota model as well. Moreover, it is likely that a Z5 M with 425ps will be produced to lead its lineup.
While the exterior design has been completely hidden by camouflage, we can see that it’s a roadster type model with a soft-top. Based on the photos, it looks as though it’s slightly larger than the Z4 with more width and a longer wheelbase.
Both the Toyota and BMW models are likely to be unveiled in the spring of 2017.
