Toyota Crown Athlete S-T

Toyota Crown Athlete S-T Review: “The Crown also advances towards downsizing” by Yoichi Moroboshi

The downsized turbocharged engine, which is a global megatrend, was also equipped in the Crown.

The downsized turbocharged engine, which is equipped in the Crown Athlete, is mated to a twin scroll turbo system in its 2L inline 4-cylinder engine that has direct injection and exhaust variable valve timing. It has lower torque compared to the 2.5L and 3.5L engines, but its torque rises towards its engine rotation, producing a smoother progression.

The torque of its current engine steadily rises up from low rotation, and even though it has many elements that maintain its flatness, its rotation and torque are steadily proportional because its engine is responsive to human activity. There may be people who would think that the existence of the engine could be felt; despite that, I’m sure that a lot are enjoying its performance as well. I can say that it can meet the expectations of people wanting to own the Crown.

Additionally, this 2L turbocharged engine is only equipped in the Crown Athlete and not in the Crown Royal. I can also conclude that its engine emphasizes its performance. The compatibility of this engine and the Athlete, which has a compact suspension compared to the Royal with its 215/55R17 tires, is great. Elder passengers can ride the Crown. Before, elderly passengers used to ride cars with soft, gentle wheels for long hours; recently though, many of them prefer riding European-esque cars. The Athlete can meet the standards of this demographic. Finally, out of those versions, I was able to feel a better performance in this 2L turbocharged engine-equipped version.
