Mazda unveiled the new MX-5 Spyder Concept at 2015 SEMA, which opened its doors November 3 in Las Vegas.
What especially drew attention about the model was the simply constructed lightweight soft top. Called a “bikini top,” it was designed by American Sunroof Corporation (ASC), which specializes in convertible tops. The soft top’s fabric is made by Haartz.
The MX-5 Spyder Concept weighs 1044kg, which is about 14kg lighter than the 2.0L base model. The body color is Mercury Silver. A type of natural leather called Prima is used for the seats and other parts of the interior. It comes with a carbon fiber aero-kit and the front grille has its own unique design.
The suspension can be adjusted for circuit racing. The brakes are Brembo brakes and the Yokohama-made 17-inch aluminum wheels use Yokohama Advan’s 225/45R17 tires.
