2015 Tokyo Motor Show: Daihatsu Tempo, a “new breed of commercial vehicles with the merits of a passenger car”

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. showcased its Tempo space commercial vehicle featuring a FF platform at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, which began on October 28.

Daihatsu’s President Masanori Mitsui said, “The Tempo is our response to those who want a convenient car but not your typical commercial vehicle. It’s a new genre of mini commercial vehicles that offers the advantages of a passenger car.”

Unlike traditional commercial vehicles, the Tempo offers ease-of-driving, getting in and out of the car, and other convenient features as a result of its FF platform. According to President Mitsui, the Tempo was derived from a variation of ideas. It offers the cargo space of commercial vehicles due to the same FF platform as the Wake and Tanto.

The passenger-seat side features a gull-wing door with LED lighting. A digital sign is installed on the side of the vehicle that can be used as a signboard.
