At a press conference held on October 28, Honda Motor Company launched their all-new soon-to-be-released Clarity Fuel Cell.
The name, Clarity Fuel Cell was partly inherited from Honda’s FCX Clarity. Based on their theme of “expanding space for passengers and downsizing space for mechanismsâ€, the Clarity Fuel Cell is the first production FCV to feature its fuel cell stack underneath the hood for enhanced spaciousness. As a result, it seats up to five passengers, bettering the four-passenger limit of Honda’s FCX Clarity and the Toyota Mirai.
After refueling on hydrogen in about three minutes, the Clarity Fuel Cell offers a cruising distance (JC08 mode) of more than 700km, which exceeds the Mirai’s 650km. Priced at 7,660,000 yen, the Clarity Fuel Cell will be released next March in Japan and delivered to the North American and European markets thereafter.
