On October 21, Toyota Motor Sales, USA (TMS) released their Mirai fuel-cell vehicle (FCV) to the US market.
The release was held on the same day as when Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) travelled into the future in the 1989 movie, Back to the Future II.
On the evening of October 20, Toyota held an event in California to commemorate its release of the Mirai. Around 300 people were handed their key as the first owners of the Mirai in the US.
The Mirai will initially be sold in California with already over 2,000 prospective buyers in the state alone, according to Toyota Motor Sales, USA.
TMS Vice President, Bill Fay said, “We’re surely celebrating the arrival of the Mirai and the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future.â€
