Lexus released the all-new RX in Japan on October 22. The first-generation RX was produced in 1998, and this all-new model is now the fourth-generation RX.
The lineup includes the new RX200t that has been equipped with a two-liter direct-injection turbocharged engine. Its downsized power unit, the same engine mounted to the NX, delivers a maximum output and a maximum torque of 238ps and 35.7kgm respectively. It is available in FF and 4WD layout, and achieves a fuel economy of 11.8km/l and 11.4km/l in JC08 mode respectively.
It has a wheelbase of 2790mm, and its overall length, width and height are 4890mm, 1895mm, and 1710mm respectively. Compared to its forerunner, its wheelbase and overall height has been increased by 50mm and 120mm respectively.
Chief Engineer Takayuki Katsuta said: “The creation of new proportions paved the way for the expansion of the cabin space, as well as enabling us to outfit it with tires that are one size larger. Furthermore, it features a revised platform that delivers a more pleasant ride.”
For safety package, it is equipped with the latest Lexus Safety System+. This safety package have four key features that include pedestrian protection, and they are the following: the Pre-Collision System, the Lane Departure Alert, the Automatic High Beam, and the Radar Cruise Control. Futhermore, it is the first Lexus vehicle to have the ITS Connect as an option.
The price of the RX200t ranges between 4.95 million and 6.21 million yen.
