Along with the October 21 US release of the Toyota Mirai, Toyota Motor Sales USA launched a campaign using the film “Back to the Future” to promote the model. The company is also unveiling a special model inspired by the film. On October 14, Toyota Motor Sales USA announced that it would release the limited edition “Back to the Future” model of the new Tacoma on October 21.
The Tacoma is Toyota’s mid-sized pickup for the North American market. The new model, which was debuted at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show last January, is its third generation model.
The new Tacoma’s design was handled by CALTY in California. The design is rugged, with features like its large hexagonal grille. In addition to the 2.7L in-line 4-cylinder gasoline engine version, it’s the first in its segment to offer a 3.5L V6 gasoline engine version as well. The 3.5L V6 is a newly developed unit. It’s a D-4S direct injection engine with Atkinson cycle.
Toyota Motor Sales USA has released one image of the “Back to the Future” model Tacoma. The image shows the “KC” logo on the fog lamp grille guards.
