Yamaha Motor Corporation will be exhibiting a proposed model design of a four-wheeled vehicle that expresses the Yamaha-esque style in motorcycles at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show, which will kickoff on October 29, 2015 in Tokyo Big Sight.
Yamaha will be exhibiting a proposed design of a production model as they plan to invest in the automobile industry.
Yamaha’s theme this time is ‘Yamaha Motor Product Orchestra.’ Yamaha will exhibit a total of 20 models comprising of six models for world premiere, and including one model each for electric assist bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, leaning multi-wheel (LMW) and recreational off-highway vehicle (ROV), and four-wheeled vehicles.
They will also release an autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot that combines motorcycle and robotics technologies.
The Resonator 125 (experimental vehicle), which will have its world premiere, is an authentic sport concept model that proposes a ‘lifestyle together with a motorcycle’ to young riders. Its lightweight, slim and compact body is equipped with innovative devices around its meters, and it exudes a futuristic feel and nostalgia at the same time. It adopts a tank that’s made of wood materials used in a guitar, a seat cowl, a muffler that has an engraving technique used in wind instruments, a tank cap and the like.
The PES2 and the PED2, which will also have their world premiere, are electric motorcycle concept models. The street sport PES2 and the drifting sport PED2 both have the new power unit Yamaha Smart Power Module with a monocoque structure that also functions as the frame. The PES2 is an on-road sport motorcycle that adopts an in-wheel-equipped 2WD drivetrain in its front wheel, while the PED2 uses a mountain trail gear.
Aside from that, they will also unveil the YPJ-MTB Concept, a high-performance bicycle mounted with electric motors. Its departure, acceleration and climbing performance expresses prominent existence of the electric power unit, but at the same time, its design doesn’t make it seem to have one. It is equipped with a 400Wh high-capacity battery and multifunction meters to make you ride calmly and enjoyably in the field.
