Nissan will exhibit the Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo concept car, which was created in connection with the Gran Turismo 6 Vision Gran Turismo Project from the PlayStation 3-exclusive game, at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
The Vision Gran Turismo is a project established to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Gran Turismo. 30 companies worldwide are participating in this project.
“This concept car is assumed to be released in 2020 as Nissan’s high performance car, and it embodies vision in all of its aspects,” said Nissan Global Design Headquarters Product Design Department Design Director Keisuke Otsuki.
As for the development of the design, Otsuki added, “Designing a super car was really exciting. It was indeed an exciting experience to design a high performance car, which is one aspect from Nissan’s DNA.” As for the design selection, Nissan conducted a design contest within their company and adopted the proposed design of Nissan Design Europe in London.
Nissan’s young engineers participated in that proposal. According to Otsuki, “We gathered technical feedback particularly in terms of its aerodynamic performance so an actual model was created.”
Specifically, he mentioned, “We conducted high-speed driving tests and aerodynamic simulations. Specifically, we had simulations and tests for its underfloor, rear spoiler, and interior parts. As a result, we were able to take feedback for the design. As for its performance, we are thinking about adding a V6 twin turbo and a 4WD hybrid system.”
He said, “We want to set it up with an aerodynamic high performance, as if it were straight out of the game that anyone can enjoy.”
