On September 30, Honda Motor Company announced its overview of exhibits for the upcoming 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Amongst vehicles that will soon be released in Japan, an all-new fuel cell vehicle as well as their Odyssey Hybrid minivan will be unveiled.
According to Honda’s PR department, this hybrid system called the Sport Hybrid i-MMD (Intelligent Multi-mode Drive) is the same unit equipped on the Accord Hybrid. It consists of two motors for driving and generation. The gasoline engine is a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle system for hybrid models.
For the first time, the Odyssey Hybrid will feature Honda’s Intelligent Power Unit (IPU), which has been downsized by integrating its newly developed battery and power control unit together. This IPU is located underneath the front seating offering the spaciousness that’s expected of minivans. Its exterior has been designed exactly like the gasoline model. The Odyssey Hybrid is scheduled for release by the end of this year.
