Toyota Motor Corporation held the world premiere of the all-new Prius in Las Vegas on September 9 at 1pm JST. This article will feature the official photos we’ve obtained of the North American model.
The all-new Prius, the fourth generation Prius, features the evolutionary advances to the hybrid technology. Its engine achieves over 40% thermal efficiency. The transaxle, the motor, and each battery unit have been made more compact and lighter, offering excellent fuel economy.
While inheriting the signature triangular silhouette, the all-new Prius has a low center of gravity because its design has been fused with the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). The top of the roof has been lowered by 20mm and moved forward, while the engine hood has also been lowered to create a stylish outline.
The complex shape of the headlights and the vertical long tail lamps give it a radical new look.
In terms of safety, it adopts the Toyota Safety Sense P active safety package that has four functions, including the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. This package further enhances the safety.
The overall length, width, height, and wheelbase of the North American model that was launched this time are 4540mm, 1760mm, 1470mm, and 2700mm respectively.
The all-new Prius is slated to be launched in Japan by the end of 2015. It is scheduled to be launched to the world and in each market consequently.
