Suzuki launches Ciaz Smart Hybrid offering the best fuel economy in India at 28.09km/l

Maruti Suzuki, the leader in passenger vehicles, launched the Ciaz Smart Hybrid in India on September 1.

Maruti Suzuki premiered the Ciaz’s concept car in India at the Delhi Auto Expo in February 2014. The Ciaz, badged as “Suzuki Authentics,” had its world premiere at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2013. It was then badged as the “Ciaz” when it was unveiled in India at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

The Ciaz was introduced to the Indian market in September 2014. Compared to its concept car, the production version of the Ciaz features a different design, such as in its bumpers and headlights. It is offered as a mid-size premium sedan in the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki added the Ciaz Smart Hybrid a year after launching the Ciaz in India. The Smart Hybrid (SHVS) is Suzuki’s mild hybrid system.

The Ciaz is mounted with a 1.3-liter turbocharged diesel engine that generates a maximum output and a maximum torque of 90ps and 20.4kgm respectively. It offers a fuel economy of 28.09km/l because it has been equipped with functions like Brake Energy Regeneration, Idle Stop and Start, and the Gear Shift Indicator. Maruti Suzuki says that the Ciaz is the most fuel efficient diesel car in the Indian market.
